Two Scots teens had a 'very lucky' escape after being blown out to sea while paddleboarding.
Emergency services descended on Ardneil Bay near Portencross, North Ayrshire, on Wednesday afternoon after horrified onlookers spotted two people being blown out to sea in strong winds.
The Largs RNLI team battled through challenging conditions to locate the first paddleboarder, with the help of the Coastguard rescue Helicopter based at Prestwick.
Volunteers soon spotted his companion a short distance away as he was grabbing onto his paddeboard which had flipped in the wind.
Both teens were quickly pulled to safety and taken ashore following the multi-agency rescue effort.
Gripping video footage of the incident shows volunteer crews navigate difficult weather conditions to locate the teens.
A helicopter can be seen assisting as one boy is pulled from the freezing water into a lifeboat.
His friend, who is sitting on top of his paddleboard, is quickly located as he manages to jump into the boat safely.
Largs RNLI Helm, Dave Stevens, said: ‘I would like to extend my thanks to those who dialled 999 and alerted us to the incident.
"If you are going out on paddleboards, it is always advisable to ensure you have full awareness of the wind and weather conditions before you go.
"The swift actions of our volunteers meant that this was a successful outcome. The two were very lucky that people were able to alert the emergency services."
