Scots teen tragically dies in hospital days after horror crash on Ayrshire road

A Scots teen has died in hospital following a horror road crash earlier this week.

Emergency services raced to the scene of the smash near Minishant in South Ayrshire after a blue Vauxhall Vectra and a blue Ford Kuga crashed.

The incident happened around 7.35am on Wednesday on the B7045 at the junction with the B742.

Cameron Leith, from Ayr, was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock and subsequently to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment after the collision.

But the 19-year-old sadly passed away on Thursday.

His family have been made aware and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Police are now urging anyone who information on the incident to get in touch.

Sergeant Craig Beaver, Ayrshire Road Policing, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Mr Leith's family at this sad time.

“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and would ask anyone who has not yet come forward with information to get in touch with police.

“We're also keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or motorists with dash-cam footage from around the time of the crash.

“Anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting incident 0429 of 17 November.”
