Scots teen rushed to hospital after being 'spiked' on night out in Glasgow

A young Scots woman was taken to hospital after being 'spiked' in Glasgow at the weekend.

The 18-year-old girl, who we have chosen not to name, posted online about the incident at nightclub Nomad on Friday and said her friend found her collapsed on the floor in the venue's toilets.

Luckily her friend discovered her in the ladies bathroom at the club on Waterloo Street before any further harm could come her way and immediately got help and made sure the teen was admitted to hospital.

Following the incident the young victim said she "really couldn't believe we are living in a world where stuff like this happens".

It is understood the victim believes her drink was spiked.

After the horrific ordeal a close family member of the girl also took to social media to warn others to remain vigilant amid a rise in spiking cases across the country.

This incident comes just one week after cops launched a probe into "several reports" of spiking at the University of Glasgow's Queen Margaret Union.

Other woman have also reported being targeted in Stirling, Edinburgh and Dundee in recent weeks.

Some victims have said they were spiked using injections and woke up with red marks on their bodies following nights out.

A spokesperson for Nomad said: "Nomad are aware of an alleged incident and take any allegation of spiking seriously.

"We are committed to doing everything we can to create a safe environment for all of our customers .

"Police Scotland are investigating and we will cooperate fully.

"However, whilst the investigation is ongoing it would not be appropriate to comment further."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received report of a drink possibly being spiked at a premises on Waterloo Street in Glasgow.

"The incident was reported on Saturday, 6 November, 2021, and enquiries are ongoing.”
