Scots teen robbed and slashed during street assault as cops launch probe

A Scots teenager was robbed and assaulted with a bladed weapon on a street in Glasgow.

The 17-year-old was walking on St Mungo Avenue in the Townhead area of Glasgow on Sunday July 4.

Around 11.55am, he was approached from behind by two unidentified males and forced to the ground.

A wallet containing a sum of cash and bank cards were removed from his bag and stolen by the men.

The teenager suffered a slash injury caused by a bladed weapon during the incident.

He was taken to hospital for treatment for the injury and was later discharged.

The two suspects left in the direction of Buchanan Bus Station and Police Scotland have released descriptions of them.

The first man is described as being aged between 16 to 18-years-old, around 5ft 10ins or 5ft 11ins and of a muscular build.

He is thought to have prominent eyebrows, dark hair parted towards the right as well as a beard.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a bright red short sleeved t-shirt, black jogging bottoms and black trainers.

The second man is also thought to be between 16 to 18-years-old, 5ft 9in to 5ft 11in tall and of a muscular build.

He also had prominent eyebrows and dark hair parted towards the right but did not have a beard.

The suspect had been wearing a black zip top with a black “V” across the chest, black jogging bottoms and black trainers.

He also had a mole on the back of his neck near the hairline.

Detective Sergeant Raymond Hunter said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify those responsible.

“We are examining the available CCTV footage and carrying out door to door enquiries in the area at present and would urge anyone with information who has not yet spoken to an officer to get in touch.

“Anyone who believes they may have seen two young males matching these descriptions in the Townhead or city centres areas is asked to come forward.

“Anyone information can be passed on by calling 101, quoting incident 1629 of 4 July, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
