Scots teen left with dodgy haircut 'raging' after waiting four months for barbers to reopen

A Scots teenager who waited four months for a haircut has urged Nicola Sturgeon to shut the barbers after he was left with a dodgy do on the first day of reopening.

Thomas Haggarty had booked an appointment with his local barbers in advance after his locks had grown out over the last four months.

Scots have been counting down the days to April 5 after waiting months for access to hair salons and barbers since the second lockdown was imposed in December.

But the 19-year-old said it has quickly turned into the ‘worst day of his life’ after the barber chopped off a little bit more than he asked for.

The Paisley lad posted a picture of his haircut, which he has described as “all skin, no fade”.

Captioning the snap on Twitter, he said: “Four months I’ve been waiting for a haircut, only to be hit with this.

“@NicolaSturgeon do us all a favour and close them again love.”

Thomas said he spent 45 minutes in the barber’s seat and didn’t say a word as his hair was being shaved off.

He told the Daily Record that had been visiting the barber for six years and would get his hair cut there every three weeks prior to lockdown.

But after that experience he reckons it will be a while before he considers heading back.

“I was buzzing to finally get my hair seen to, but it just turned into the worst day of my life”, he said.

“I’m one of those people who just lets the barber get on with it, I’m quite shy that way. But as time got on, I was proper starting to wonder what was happening.

“When it got to the end, I just paid up and was like ‘see you soon’ - but I can’t see myself going back.”

Thomas’ picture of his haircut has gone viral since he posted it on Twitter earlier this afternoon - with more than 1,300 retweets and over 23,000 likes on the social media website.

One of the first people to comment on it was one of his new football coaches.

Thomas said: "We’re going to be back at training at the end of this month or the start of the next. Fingers crossed it grows in a bit by then so I don’t get pelters.”
