Scots taxi driver misses out on lotto jackpot by one number - for the second time

Punter claims he’s the second unluckiest man in Scotland after losing out on a massive lottery win – twice.

Gregor Ross narrowly missed out on pocketing £10,000 a month for 30 years in the Lotto’s Set For Life game.

Instead, the taxi driver won just £250 after being one number out.

It happened nearly a year after he lost out on winning the £500,000 Thunderball jackpot.

After reading about Clydebank lad Aidan Murray, who missed out on a £157million EuroMillions win by just one number last week, Gregor said he knows the feeling.

The 48-year-old, from Wormit, near Dundee, said: “On November 16 last year, I picked the numbers 6, 17, 21, 38 and 39 and life ball number 6.

“If I’d picked 13 instead of 6, I’d have won £10,000 a month for 30 years.

“The November before that I was in the taxi and a customer got in. I told him I was just picking my lottery numbers and he told me to put on 18, 19, 22, 26, 28 and Thunderball 1.

“If I’d picked 38 instead of 26, I’d have won the jackpot.”

Single Gregor said he felt “gutted” for Aidan, who went viral after posting a picture of his EuroMillions ticket on Twitter. He won £666.50 – but was only one number away from being a multi-millionaire.

Gregor said: “When I read about him I thought I must be the second unluckiest man in Scotland. Even though I’ve missed out twice, I’m always winning wee amounts of cash so I’m going to keep playing.”

Gregor printed out copies of his nearly-winning tickets and stuck them in his taxi.

He said: “It’s a good talking point and reminds me what might have been.

“I might have missed out on winning the lottery twice but there’s loads of people a lot worse off than me, so I’m grateful for everything I’ve got.”
