Scots 'tank' mum 'only popped out for Irn-Bru' before pushing stuck lorry up icy hill

A super strong Scots mum who, went viral after helping push a lorry to safety amid Storm Darcy, 'was just trying to help' as shocked locals watched on.

Charlene Leslie was 'just popping to the shop for some Irn-Bru and snacks' when chaos erupted in her hometown of Cowdenbeath, Fife on Tuesday.

We told how vehicles struggled to get up one hill in the town centre due to heavy snowfall in the wake of Storm Dacy.

In an amazing moment, mum-of-three, Charlene was spotted pushing the back of a Graham's Dairy lorry up the hill to safety.

But the 33-year-old didn't expect the reaction from locals and Scots across the country after the video was shared online.

Asda worker Charlene told the Record: "I would never see anyone go without help.

"I suppose it could have ended up really dangerous but thankfully the truck got up the hill.

"In the moment I wasn't really thinking about me, I just wanted to help."

Charlene was heading to a local shop with two of her three children, Rihanna, 10 and two-year-old Hunter as well as husky, Alaska, when she spotted a car in trouble near the local Morrisons.

The video has gathered hundreds of likes (Fife Jammer Locations)

"A load of people were trying to push it up the hill when I noticed the lorry coming behind it.

"It's front wheels were spinning and it was stuck.

"My neighbour appeared so I asked her to watch the kids and the dog while I pushed it from the back.

"Eventually it made it up to the top.

"In this weather it's important to all pull together and help."

After realising her brawn had been posted online, Charlene coulnd't believe the reaction.

"People were joking and asked what I'd had for breakfast, but I hadn't even eaten that day."
