Scots swan forced to make nest in rubbish after litter bugs wreck beauty spot

A Scots swan was forced to make a nest in rubbish after litter bugs wrecked a beauty spot.

The bird was spotted amongst empty bottles and smashed glass at Strathclyde Loch in Motherwell.

The poor animal was left building its home in the middle of the rubbish thanks to 'human carelessness'.

Local resident John Dyer was out a walk in the area yesterday afternoon when he started snapping pictures of the scene.

He told the Daily Record: "I took the pictures yesterday while out for a walk at Strathclyde Loch.

"I was amazed to see such natural beauty amid our human rubbish and carelessness.

"The orange barrier is where the South Calder Water flows into Strathclyde Loch and the barrier holds back the rubbish people through out.

"There is not much litter in the loch but it can build up at the barrier.

"The Swans have used the rubbish as a base for their nest and didn’t seem too bothered about the rubbish all around the nest.

"So it seems to me that Nature finds a way, even though to us it is a mess."
