Scots still holidaying in Europe despite Brexit say Barrhead Travel

Brexit certainly isn’t putting off Scots holidaymakers from travelling to Europe .

Continental countries and their islands remain big favourites, according to newly reported statistics by one of the UK’s largest agencies, Barrhead Travel.

The travel industry as a whole had unanswered questions in the build-up to the original March 29 exit date – especially over visas and passports.

Barrhead Travel today reported they expect to see a surge in late getaways and summer holidays after the announcement of the Brexit delay.

Brits heading to Greece this summer hit with urgent travel advice

A spokesperson said: “With last week’s confirmation from the EU that visas for short stays would not be required and the latest extension on Brexit there is definitely a lot more optimism - and we’re seeing momentum starting to build as the public turn their attention to finalising their holiday plans.

“Travellers will be able to head to Europe this summer with the certainty that nothing is changing in the short-term.

“It’s not surprising to see that Europe still dominates our top ten.

“Holidaymakers across Britain clearly still love Europe and this year we have some really competitive pricing for our customers.”

Top ten late getaways:

1. Tenerife

2. Majorca

3. Alicante

4. Gran Canaria

5. Lanzarote

6. Antalya

7. Orlando

8. Dubai

9. Faro

10. Cancun
