Scots soldier who 'plunged 70ft to death from hotel in Poland' given full military send off

A Scots soldier who died on holiday has been given a full military send off.

Corporal Ryan Lovatt, 25, was among a group of squaddies on a break from Army duties in capital city Warsaw.

He reportedly plunged 70ft to his death from a seventh floor hotel room during a party in Poland.

The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers serviceman, from Torrance, Dunbartonshire, was pronounced dead at the foot of the building at 3am.

A probe by Polish and British military police has been launched into the tragedy at the hotel, which has a seventh floor terrace.

It is understood the horror in the Wola district is being treated as an accident.

Cpl Lovatt, who followed his veteran dad Colin, 49, into the Army, was given a full military send-off at Clydebank Crematorium on Wednesday. Colin broke the news of his son’s death online.

He wrote: “It is with heartbreaking sadness that I am placing this on social media, however I am aware that it is the best way to let all know.

“Our beautiful boy Ryan will be laid to rest on Wednesday.”
