Scots social care charity launch urgent recruitment drive amidst coronavirus outbreak

A social care charity is calling on dedicated Scots to work with vulnerable people through the coronavirus lockdown.

Quarriers, a health and social care charity, is in need of immediate full and part-time staff and volunteers to help get through challenges caused by the pandemic.

Positions are available across the country including Glasgow, Inverclyde, Renfrewshire, West and East Dunbartonshire and Ayrshire.

Roles are also available at North Lanarkshire Disability which provides valuable support for people with physical and learning disabilities.

The charities need people who can provide vital services full time or part time – including just a few hours a week.

Quarriers also need people who can help with tasks such as shopping, cooking or cleaning.

The new short-term contracts from one to three months may be welcome relief work to many during the challenging circumstances caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

And some positions may be made permanent once the pandemic is over.

Alice Harper, chief executive officer for Quarriers, said: “We know this is a very difficult and challenging time and that many people in a range of sectors including retail, hospitality and leisure have been impacted.

“We have a range of vacancies across Scotland with a mix of full-time, part-time and short-term contracts on offer.

“A number of the available positions offer an immediate start, and we would urge anyone who feels suited to the roles to get in touch.

“The top priority for Quarriers is to ensure we maintain the highest levels of service for those that we care for and our staff are of vital importance in delivering this essential care.

“We hope this recruitment drive provides a positive opportunity for both those we support and those who may be affected in the current climate.”

Quarriers’ current vacancies can be found here.

All interviews will be arranged by phone or video call.
