Scots snap up Ukraine tops and flags ahead of England Euro 2020 clash

Scots football fans appear to have turned to Ukraine as their Euro 2020 team of choice after the side secured a quarter final match up against England.

Ukraine bagged a place in the last eight after defeating Sweden at Hampden Park last night in more than two hours of football.

The result came just hours after England defeated their bitter rivals Germany 2-0 at Wembley Stadium in London.

It would have been a disappointing blow to the Scotland fans who seemingly forked out on German flags and shirts over the past few days.

And now many are prepared to shift nations as Google searches for Ukraine colours in Scotland surged just moments after their tie with England was confirmed last night.

Around 100 searches each were recorded for the likes of ‘Ukraine shirt’, ‘Ukraine top’, ‘Ukraine strip’ and ‘Ukraine flag’ at around 10.30pm alone on Tuesday, according to Google Trends.

Football fans in Scotland have been on the hunt for a new team to follow since the men’s side were dumped out the tournament last week.

Steve Clarke’s squad lost their opening game to Czech Republic and their final match to Croatia during the group stage.

But the team were praised for their heroics against England, as they managed to secure a 0-0 draw at Wembley Stadium earlier this month.

It is the first time that Scotland’s men have appeared at a major football tournament since the 1998 World Cup in France.

And it appears that many Scotland fans are now looking to swap John McGinn and Andy Robertson for the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Andriy Yarmolenko.

Ukraine will face off against England in the quarter finals of the Euros on Saturday night at 8pm.

Gareth Southgate’s side have been installed as one of the bookies favourites to take home the trophy, after nations such as France, the Netherlands and Portugal were knocked out.
