Amy Macdonald has said she has enjoyed putting her feet up for once (Redferns)

"I was 18 when I signed to the label, I was suddenly kind of taken down to London, making an album where they do all the photoshoots and that was so strange to me.

"I felt so out of my depth, but it just kind of all happened

"Even when my first album came out in the UK, and it went to number 2 and i just thought 'aw this is what happens' and a few months later it went to number one and this was great.

"It is one of my regrets that I didn't take it all in, I just thought this is what you do. Put your tunes out and they go really well, but I know now that doesn't happen very often."

When asked if the star had any watershed moments where she realised her life had changed, the singer responds:

"I don't feel that different.

"I'm very lucky that I've still got my old friends.

"I've got people round me that will always bring me back down to earth.

"I've been in the most amazing situations.

"I remember quite near the start probably 2008 I was doing an awards show in Berlin and I was out doing a soundcheck and everything else.

"When I got back to my dressing room I had a note delivered and it said 'to Amy, come and say hi to your fan club' and it was signed by all of U2"

The star revealed another pinch me moment came in 2007, after she was invited to open for Elton John at the SECC.

Amy appeared on Blethered ahead of her upcoming TRNSMT headlining gig as part of a special series of pre-TRNSMT interviews for the podcast.
