Scots show turns of pace at UK Time Attack Championship

SCOTS speed merchants who made the long trek south for the opening round of the UK Time Attack Championship were rewarded with some blistering times and podium finishes.

Despite damp conditions, Mitsubishi Evo IX driver Andrew Barbour, competing in the Pro Extreme 4WD class, secured second place at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire, with a time of 1:41.8.

That was just 1.4 seconds off the winning time of Phil Reed, who was competing in the same class and was also at the wheel of an Evo IX.

Meanwhile, fellow Scot Andy Forrest took first place in the Pro Extreme 2WD category and third place overall with a time of 1:44.2 in his Westfield Sei.

The UK Time Attack Championship aims to inspire petrolheads to nail the quickest lap in a series of rounds at a variety of major racing circuits.

There are multiple classes to allow a wide variety of cars and drivers to take part – from entry-level road cars with only minor modifications through to purpose-built, world-class, racing-spec machines, as well as classics.
