A stunned shopper stumbled across a shelf full of shiny rude-shaped ornaments on a family visit to Poundland.
Dad-of-one Kenny Keirnan was on a first trip out of lockdown with wife Susan, 33, and two-year-old daughter Jessica to snap up some essentials for their Dalkeith home.
They nipped into a Livingston branch of the discount store last weekend - only to get more than they bargained for.
Administrator Kenny, 35, said: “We’ve just done up our garden and were looking for a few bits and my daughter saw these garden gnomes.
“We were having a look at them and I just saw this array of silver penis shaped ornaments - it’s just not something you expect to see.”
The family were out shopping for maternity clothes for Susan ahead of the arrival of their second child in November.
Kenny said shoppers seemed to be steering well clear of the rude-shaped toadstools while he was in the store.
He joked: “It didn’t look like anyone was going anywhere near them - I’ll go back next week and they'll be 50p.
“I know we’ve been through lockdown but I’m not sure people were buying them before.”
Kenny opted to move swiftly on with daughter Jessica and said staff seemed blissfully unaware of the smutty looking stock.
He added: “Surely when you design something like that somebody should be aware and say something, I can’t be the only one - did they just think ‘oh it’s fine just put it on the shelf?’
“I didn’t mention it to staff because everyone was masked up so you don’t know if they’re smiling or frowning - and they’re having a hard time as it is.”
