A shop in Fife has been left a burnt out shell after a blaze ravaged the entire building overnight.
The fire took hold at around 2am on Tuesday, November 8, when the Poundstretcher store on Leven High Street went up in smoke, sparking a hefty emergency response.
First responders, including Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, scrambled to the scene, with dozens of firefighters and more than 15 appliances fighting the inferno until the early hours of the morning.
Now, harrowing images shared on social media, show the aftermath of the fire on the popular discount store as well businesses roundabout, including Jackson & Company solicitors and Stuart's Butchers.
The devastating impact on the premises, now a hollow wreck, is clear to see. Blackened, crumbling debris spills out on to the street, while the roof appears to have completely caved in and the contents of the building destroyed.
A cordon is erected around the danger zone, while fire hoses lie abandoned nearby. In another haunting image, the internal structure seems to have collapsed in on itself, with beams hanging from the rafters. The shop face is ruined while remnants of ashy, grey smoke float from the property.
Fife Council has confirmed that Bank Street, Branch Street, High Street, Seagate, South Street, Viewforth Place, Forth Street and School Wynd remain closed until further notice as a result of the dramatic incident.
Businesses in the area will be open as normal from Thursday, November 10, but delivery access may be restricted. There is also currently no vehicle access to the High Street for Blue Badge holders, and pedestrian access is limited.
Police Scotland has confirmed that enquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire. No one is reported to have been injured.
