Scots set for September scorcher as Saharan plume brings 26C Indian summer

Scots will enjoy the hottest Indian summer for a century - despite a few chilly starts in the coming days.

The will be hit by rain and covered in clouds with heavy precipitation overnight.

However, The Mirror report that some forecasters believe it could turn out to be of the hottest September on record.

The high pressure is to bring blue skies for many across the country.

On Monday morning there be cloudy with outbreaks of rain in Scotland but the UK will heat up after a blustery start to the week when the remnants of Hurricane Dorian pass ove.

Saharan heat plumes mean that temperatures could even hit 26C this month.

Forecasters believe the months up to November could be so warm that it will make 2019 one of the top three hottest years on record.

The Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze said Brian Gaze said: "Computer forecast models support the three-month period ahead being among the warmest on record.

"Indian summer-like settled and sunny weather is forecast to start in a week's time, lasting a week or more and seeing highs up to 26C.

"High pressure is expected to bring a southerly feed, with heat arriving from southern Europe and north Africa.

“The pattern of Saharan heat coming to the UK was big feature of summer this year, and is expected to repeat again.”
