Scots schoolgirl remains in hospital after being mowed down by car

A schoolgirl remains in hospital after being hit by a car in South Lanarkshire.

We told how the nine-year-old pedestrian was mowed down in Harelesshill Road, Larkhall on Wednesday.

The alarm was raised at around 3.30pm.

Emergency services rushed the girl University Hospital Wishaw for treatment.

Police told the Record on Thursday that she remains in hospital as a precaution.

Her condition, at this stage, does not appear to be life threatening.

Officers did not disclose the nature of the girl's injuries or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No other injuries have been reported.

The road was closed for three hours as officers at the scene carried out an investigation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Hareleeshill Road, Larkhall, around 3.30pm on Wednesday, June 9, following a crash involving a nine-year-old pedestrian.

"She was taken to University Hospital Wishaw by ambulance.

"The road was closed for three hours while officers carried out enquiries.”
