Scots schoolgirl approached by man who grabbed her hair in frightening incident

A 10-year-old Scots girl was left terrified after being approached by a man who grabbed her hair last night and reportedly took photographs of her before running away.

Cops have launched a manhunt to find a suspect described by the girls parents as being an older man wearing a grey tracksuit.

The incident happened as the schoolgirl waked along a path between Bervie's Brae and Johnston Park, Cowdenbeath, around 7.30pm and was later reported to police.

The youngster ran to meet her friends and then told her parents what happened.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch as enquiries into the incident continue.

Sergeant John Weir said: “Around 9.10pm last night, we received a report that a man approached a 10-year-old girl as she walked along a path between Bervie’s Brae and Johnston Park, Cowdenbeath, earlier in the evening.

“We understand the concern that this could cause local people and officers are currently carrying out enquiries to establish more information regarding this incident and trace the man involved.

“If anyone saw anything suspicious in the area that could help with our enquiries please call us on 101, quoting incident 4196 of Saturday, April 3.”
