Scots schoolboy 'pulled off bike and battered' as cops hunt roadside attacker

A manhunt is underway in Angus after a schoolboy was allegedly assaulted by a man following a row over a bike.

Police are investigating reports that a 14-year-old boy got into a scrap with a man in Keptie Road, Arbroath on Monday evening.

It's claimed a man approached the boy between 6pm and 6.30pm and scolded him for cycling on the pavement.

Officers believe the suspect threatened the teenager and pulled him off his bike before a scrap between the pair ensued that left the boy injured.

The man fled the scene, walking in the direction of Timmergreens.

The nature of the boy's injuries were not disclosed.

It is not known if he required hospital treatment.

Police launched an appeal in a bid to find the alleged attacker.

Officers would also like to speak to one witness who intervened and helped the teenager.

Anyone else with information is being urged to come forward.

Tayside Police Division released a statement on Thursday morning.

It read: "We are currently investigating an incident which happened in Keptie Road, Arbroath, between 6pm and 6:30pm on Monday, September 20.

The statement continued: "We would like to trace a man described as between 45 and 50 years of age, about five foot, nine inches tall, of stocky build and with short grey hair.
