Scots schoolboy battered by young thugs in bloody park attack in front of gran

An 11-year-old boy was left bloodied and bruised after being attacked by a gang of young thugs as he visited a Paisley park with his gran.

The youngster was battered in broad daylight by four other boys around the same age in the unprovoked attack at Barshaw Park.

Cops said the youngster was on a day out with his gran and aunt when he was targeted by the group for no apparent reason just after 4pm.

The attackers punched and kicked the frightened boy before dragging him to the ground.

They then legged it in the direction of the golf course, leaving the victim with a bloodied nose.

The suspects are described as being aged between 11 and 12 years old.

One was wearing a green Celtic top, one was in a grey hoodie while the other two were dressed all in black.

Police have appealed for any witness to come forward as they look to identify those responsible.

Inspector Tracy Harkins, at Paisley police office said: “We are investigating after an 11-year-old boy was assaulted by a group of four other boys at Barshaw Park in Paisley on Friday at around 4.05pm

“The victim was with family members when he was attacked by a group of four other youths who then made off from the scene.

“He sustained minor facial injuries and has been left distressed by what happened.”

She added: “If you witnessed the incident or saw four youths in the area matching the description then we would like to hear from you.”

Meanwhile, a man was arrested after he allegedly brandished a knife at two brothers during a neighbourly dispute.

It is claimed the 38-year-old threatened the brothers aged, 23 and 25, in Oxford Road, Renfrew at around 12.30am on Saturday.

Police were called and the man was arrested.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
