Schoolboy who vanished from Scots town found safe and well after huge cop search

A 13-year-old boy reported missing from a community south of Glasgow has been found safe and well.

We told how Adam Phimister was last seen by his family in Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire, at around 8.30pm on Wednesday, May 4.

A missing person appeal was launched earlier this week after he failed to return home - and officers in Glasgow believed Adam was sighted in Bathgate, around 30 miles away, on Saturday.

Inspector Ian Scott previously said: "Adam has been missing from his home since Wednesday and we are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety as he is only 13.

"We want to trace him as soon as possible to ensure that he is safe and well.

"Our enquiries are ongoing to trace him and I would ask anyone who has seen Adam, or who has any information regarding his whereabouts to contact officers."

Meanwhile, Adam's youth football team urged the youngster to come home.

St Cadoc's Youth Club shared an appeal on Facebook

It read: "Please help our teammate Adam and his family. Adam has been missing since Wednesday, May 4 at 9.30pm.

"We all love him and want him home safe and sound and back playing for his team."

In the early hours of Sunday morning, police revealed that Adam had been found safe and well.

Officers thanked all those who helped with their investigation into his disappearance.

A statement from Greater Glasgow Police Division was released via Facebook.

It read: "Police in Glasgow can confirm that Adam Phimister from Newton Mearns who had been reported missing, has been traced safe and well.

"Thank you to everyone who commented and shared our earlier appeal."
