Scots salon searches for 'James and Sheena' after secret love message found scrawled inside wall

A Scots hair salon is appealing for help to find a couple whose mysterious love note was found hidden inside the building walls.

Renella owner Ross Miller was helping workmen inside the Falkirk hairdressers when they discovered a handwritten chalk message daubed on a steel beam.

The declaration read: “James McGaun loves Sheena McDonald.”

The 45-year-old decided to share the message on social media in a bid to track down the hopefully-happy couple and to find out more about their love story.

Ross, who runs the family-owned business, said: “We’re currently renovating the hair salon and part of it is being ripped apart.

“I asked the workmen to take it right back to the bare walls because I knew there were bricks and steel beams that I wanted to use.

“As we were stripping it back, we came across a number of quite funny things. But as I was standing there, I looked up and saw this message written in chalk.

“I just knew we were going to have to share it on Facebook to see if we could find these folk and what happened with them.

“It has caused quite a stir on social media. One person has even gone and checked the official records for marriages which is pretty impressive.

“It would be great if James or Sheena could contact the salon by phone or drop us a message on Facebook. We’d love to know what happened.”

Other unusual discoveries have also been made during the renovation including historic sandwich boards and bank note warnings.

A separate chalk message was also discovered but was somewhat less romantic in nature.

Ross added: “There was another message that said ‘Big Tam’s a bum’. We’ll have to find out who he is next as well.

“This building used to be a John Menzies building many years ago and there’s a big loft space in it.

“So once we’ve found this couple, I think we should do a loft history to see if we can uncover anyone who used to work here.

“There’s writing all over it saying ‘so and so was here in 1981’ and things like that.

“Funnily enough, on the post, some people have commented saying they wrote their names in the loft and it would probably still be there.”
