Scots road worker filmed cutting grass in snow leaves social media users baffled

Footage of a BEAR Scotland worker appearing to be cutting grass in the snow on a major Scots road has gone viral.

The amusing video shows the employee on a verge by the A9 in the Highlands in hi-vis clothing powering a lawn trimmer while wading through the snow yesterday (April 5).

A snow flurry is also visible at the time as the north of Scotland was hit with wintry conditions making driving conditions difficult on roads.

The video was posted by Fraser Bonthrone, from Embo, and has had nearly 300,000 views and 6.4k shares on Facebook.

Many have been left disbelief at the sight, with some even wondering if it was a prank.

Derek Rutherford said: "Surely not? It must be the 1st April."

Matthew Hayhurst from New Zealand said: "That's about as useful as going to a hairdresser when you are bald!"

Mick Lucas added: "Only in Scotland, while Gillian Bockschatz said: "Some mothers do have them."

Bjørk Lauridsen said:"Right lads I've nothing for you, go out and look like your doing something."

BEAR Scotland have now said that the work should have been stopped.

A spokesperson at BEAR Scotland said: “As required by our contract with Transport Scotland, the season for grass cutting on the Trunk Roads has commenced.

"The works this week have been impacted by somewhat unseasonal snow showers, and whilst we admire the dedication of our landscaping team, on this occasion, the works should have stopped. The team have been reminded.”
