Scots road rage attacker drove at 40mph with his victim clinging to the bonnet

A road rage attacker who drove at 40mph with his victim clinging to the bonnet has been locked up.

Boy racer mechanic Josh Mills sped off with 64-year-old Gordon Davidson hanging on to his car for dear life.

Gordon’s ordeal in Dundee took place after he tried to take a photo of Mills in the wake of a run-in over a badly parked car.

Prosecutor Eilidh Robertson told the city’s sheriff court the incident was sparked by Mills blocking a narrow street with his Seat Leon.

The men “exchanged words” and Mills kicked Gordon’s wing mirror before returning to his own car. Gordon then got out to remonstrate with him.

Robertson said: “Mr Davidson walked to the front of Mr Mills’s car with the intention of getting a photo of the accused.

“The accused revved the engine and drove towards Mr Davidson, striking him on the lower legs, causing him to fall on to the bonnet.

“He accelerated forward and Mr Davidson grabbed hold to prevent himself falling off the car.”

Mills, 23, from Dundee, admitted shouting at Gordon in Mansion Drive and kicking his car on August 11 last year.

He admitted attacking Gordon by trying to punch him and driving the car towards him, striking him on the body and propelling him on to the bonnet.

Mills admitted continuing to drive with Gordon on the bonnet, braking sharply and swerving side to side, causing him to fall to the roadway and leaving him injured and scarred to the danger of his life.

He also admitted having no insurance and failing to stop after the incident.

Incredibly, a witness who called police after hearing Gordon scream for help had no idea it was her brother on the bonnet.

Mills eventually shook Gordon off on a sharp corner. A passer-by found the hyperventilating victim lying on the road.

Gordon said: “I was properly in fear for my life because of that young lad.”

The court heard Mills, now driving a BMW, led police a high-speed chase less than a fortnight later.

Mills admitted driving dangerously and at excessive speed through a red light, before losing control and crashing into traffic lights, on August 22.

Sentence was deferred. Sheriff Alastair Carmichael told Mills: “It is highly likely there will be a custodial sentence, so I will remand you in custody.”
