A Scots road has been closed due to a gas leak as engineers work to carry out emergency repairs.
The A737 between Howwood and Lochwinnoch is currently shut with emergency services redirecting traffic.
It is not known how long the road will be closed and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
Scottish Gas Network said the road had been temporarily closed for "everyone's safety".
A statement read: "We're carrying out emergency repairs to our gas main in the A737 between Howwood and Lochwinnoch.
"For everyone's safety, the A737 is temporarily closed both ways between its junctions with the A760 and the B787. The emergency services are helping to redirect motorists.
"We know this is a busy route, so our teams are working as quickly and safely as possible to complete our repairs. It's too early to say at this stage how long this will take, so please look out for updates on this page."
Traffic Scotland added : "The A737 is CLOSED both ways between Howwood and Lochwinnoch due to a gas leak in the area.
"Please # UseAltRoute meantime."
