Scots road closed due to 'ongoing police incident' as emergency services race to scene

A Scots road has been closed due to an "ongoing police incident".

Emergency services have scrambled to Castle Street in Hamilton this afternoon.

Officers are in attendance and the road has been closed off.

The nature of the incident is not yet known.

South Lanarkshire Council took to social media to alert locals of the road closure at around 12.40pm on Sunday.

Diversions are in place through Keith Street and Palace Grounds Road.

A council spokesperson said: "Castle Street in Hamilton is closed due to a police incident.

"Diversion is in place via Keith Street and Palace Grounds Road."

Police Scotland have been asked for comment.
