Scots restaurants unite to launch own version of Eat Out to Help Out in October

Scotland's leading restaurants have come together to launch their own version of the government's successful Eat Out to Help Out scheme in October.

Eateries from across the country will be offering cut-price meals to diners for another month in a bid to boost the vulnerable hospitality industry.

More than 100million meal deals were served across eateries during August following months of lockdown.

Scotland's new version of the scheme, named Eat Out to Help October, will see both restaurants and takeaways taking part - and more venues will be added daily.

Restaurants in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Abderdeenshire, Forfar and Motherwell have already signed up to take part.

The initiative is being led by Barry Knight, director of The Full Range, who hopes it will encourage diners to keep eating out.

He said: “As we approach the winter months, hospitality businesses need assistance once again which is why we have created our own version of the scheme.

"We have worked behind the scenes to generate additional support from a range of suppliers and manufacturers across Scotland, allowing outlets to offer their customers great deals which will help secure additional spend across the entire supply chain."
