A Scottish restaurant chain has recently been revealed as a regional winner in the first ever awards from Uber Eats.

Regional winners were judged by Prue Leith, restaurateur and TV host, and Rachel Ama, vegan chef, with Bread Meets Bread taking the top spot for Scotland. The business currently has three locations in Glasgow, a city centre spot, a west end location as well as a premises in Glasgow Fort.

Bread Meets Bread is a family owned business which aims to use only the best local produce in their delicious burgers, and boasts large portion sizes so that 'no one leaves hungry'.

For the past month the public have been voting for their favourite local restaurants across the UK and Ireland, with the winners being invited to London later this summer for a judging day to find out which food spot will take the national title.

Matthew Price, Uber Eats General Manager, said: “A huge congrats to all of our finalists, we were overwhelmed with the response from the public who voted in their hundreds of thousands. I can’t wait to try some amazing food and meet the amazing independent restauranteurs behind the dishes."

In a social media post, restaurant owners said: "We are delighted to have been shortlisted to represent Scotland in the UberEats Restaurant of the Year competition!

"We are so proud to be voted Scotland’s Top Restaurant on UberEats - thanks to all of our customers for their ongoing support ."

In addition to Rachel Ama and Prue Leith, Mathew Price, Uber Eats General Manager, Mark Lewis, Chief Executive at Hospitality Action, Lorraine Copes, Head of Procurement at Be Inclusive Hospitality, and Joseph Denison Carey, TV chef, will be there to pick the best of the best.

While there's a chance to win the coveted 'Restaurant of the Year' award, the judges will also determine the winners of the Pioneer Awards, which include:

  • Female Chef of the Year
  • Black-owned Restaurant
  • Sustainable Restaurant
  • Health-focused Restaurant
  • Community/Social Impact Restaurant
