Scots reckon Ronaldo's an Irn Bru fan after he causes Coca Cola to plummet after removing bottles ahead of match

Cristiano Ronaldo caused the value of Coca Cola to plummet after he removed bottles of the soft drink and told watchers to drink water instead - as Scots fans claimed he might prefer Irn Bru.

The Portugese footballer is said to have wiped $4BILLION off Coca-Cola's market value immediately after his actions at the press conference

Ronaldo who scored two goals in a 3-0 win against Hungary in the Euro 2020 match looked unhappy as he was sat at a table with two bottles of Coca Cola in front of him.

Despite the drinks giant sponsoring the event, Ronaldo lifted the two bottles of Coca Cola, placing them on the far side of the desk and replaced them with a bottle of water.

Coca-Cola's share price promptly dropped from $56.10 (£39.80) to $55.22 (£39.19).

The video of his actions went viral online as other suggested he might prefer Pepsi.

Cola were forced to issue a statement saying "everyone is entitled to their drink preferences" and that everyone has different "tastes and needs".

A spokesperson added: "Players are offered water, alongside Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, on arrival at our press conferences."

Thirty six year old player Ronaldo avoids sugary foods, and eats clean up to six times a day.

Fans couldn't believe his actions but saw it as a promotional opportunity for Coca Cola's competitors.

One said: "Have the people at Pepsi come up with a quick ad after that Ronaldo move on Coca cola?"

Another added: "Messi has been drinking Pepsi for fun for well over a decade now and Ronaldo still hasn’t been able to surpass him. Crazy."

And someone else quipped: "Clearly an Irn Bru fan."
