Scots railway line closed amid ‘ongoing incident’ with police called to the scene in Paisley

A busy railway line has been closed in Paisley as police deal with an ‘ongoing incident’.

Emergency services have been called to the scene at Paisley St James station with all lines closed on Tuesday morning.

ScotRail is warning travellers to expect delays with services between Glasgow Central and Gourock temporarily suspended.

At 5.47am, the rail operator tweeted: “Due to the police dealing with an incident near the railway at Paisley St James all lines are closed.

“Our services between Glasgow Central and Gourock will be cancelled. I'll update you all as soon as I can.

“To help keep you on the move we have replacement buses in operation and ticket acceptance with McGills.”

The line was able to reopen shortly after 6.30pm however knock-on delays are expected.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Paisley St James station at 1.41am this morning following concern for the welfare of a man.

“Specialist officers attended and he has been taken to hospital for assessment.”
