Scots prisoner hides knife in buttocks 'after death threats from other lags'

A knife thug who was found with a makeshift weapon clenched between his buttocks has been ordered to carry out 120 hours unpaid work.

John McCormack, 35, was serving a five-year sentence for a vicious knife attack when he was found with the weapon during a strip search in 2019.

At Dundee Sheriff Court, McCormack admitted having the illicit home-made weapon, which he claimed was because he discovered death threats had been made against him in Perth Prison.

The thug was found hiding the sharpened plastic weapon when he was moved for his own safety by prison chiefs.
