A prison bully was badly burned when another inmate mixed sugar with boiling water and threw it at him.
Shaun Dunn claimed he was getting his revenge in first because he feared Rickie Tait was planning to target him in Perth Prison.
Michael Sweeney, prosecuting, said: “Rickie Tait had been in the prison since November 2018 and was in cell 28 with another prisoner.
“Shaun Dunn was a prisoner at the time. At 8.30am, he entered the cell where the complainer was.
"Dunn was holding a clear protein container full of clear liquid.
“Officers heard a loud crashing noise, a commotion. They entered and observed Mr Tait’s injuries
Dunn said he feared attack which appeared to be significant burns on his head, face and arm.

“They were consistent with having had boiling water poured over him. Officers escorted Dunn back to his cell. He appeared out of breath and agitated.”
Mr Sweeney told Perth Sheriff Court the floor of Tait’s cell was wet and sticky and he had to be taken to the plastic surgery unit at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
Mike Short, defending, said: “Mr Tait is known as the prison bully. Everybody stays clear of him.
“My client knows this was a terrible act. Drugs have been the root of his problems.”
Dunn, 36, from Dundee, admitted attacking Tait by pouring sugared water over his head and body to his severe injury on April 15 last year.
Sheriff Pino di Emidio deferred sentence for reports.
Dunn was handed a seven-year jail sentence in 2019 after admitting holding a blade to the throat of a Dundee student in an attempted robbery.
