Scots primary school pupils find sex toy in playground as parents sent warning email

The head teacher at a Scottish primary school has been forced to send out a warning email to parents after kids found a sex toy near the playground.

Children at Auchencairn Primary School had been out on a break this week when the discovery was made on the school grounds.

The object was lying abandoned behind a shed at the school in Dumfries and Galloway, however it's unclear how many pupils saw it before it was reported to school staff.

Head Teacher Fiona Christie notified parents about the incident in an email, warning that children who found the toy or heard about the incident whilst at school may mention it.

The head teacher also explained that some of the younger children may not know what the item was, due to their age.

She wrote: "We regret to inform you that his morning some children found an adult sex toy (rubber penis) behind the shed in our playground.

"We are unsure which children saw the item or were aware of what it was so felt it was safest to contact you all in case your child mentions it at home.

"If you wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincere apologies."

A Dumfries and Galloway Council spokeswoman said: "A sex toy was found in the playground of Auchencairn Primary by pupils.

"Once staff were made aware, they removed it immediately. The head teacher wrote to all parents to inform them of the incident in case any questions were raised at home.

"This incident was outwith the control of our school staff, however, staff handled the incident in a professional manner."

Auchencairn Primary School is situated on the banks of the Solway Firth, around 11 miles from Kirkcudbright, and has a school roll of 35 pupils, according to its official website.
