Scots pop veterans Hue and Cry making their return to Ayrshire stage for rearranged gig axed by Covid

Scots pop veterans Hue and Cry will return to the Ayrshire stage for a rearranged gig that was axed by Covid.

Brothers Pat and Greg Kane are set to play Troon’s Walker Hall next month after their big headline performed was cancelled last year.

The dynamic duo from Coatbridge shot to fame in the 1980s with hits like ‘Labour of Love’ and ‘Looking for Linda’ before going to sell two million records worldwide.

On Friday, September 9, they’ll return to the same venue they sold out in December 2019.

One half of the Hue and Cry camp, Pat, has told how the band can’t wait to get back to playing local venues and returning to the Walker Hall.

Pat said: “It’s great that we’re finally getting back on to the stage in Troon once more and look forward to another great show.

“It’s been a challenging time for us all and it is great to see that gigs like this can finally get moving again and we can get back to more local shows like this one.

"We look forward to seeing everyone again at this great venue."

Gig organisers, South Beach Sessions, say they hope the Hue and Cry gig can mark the recovery of live music in the town after their scheduled event was “decimated” by coronavirus fears.

A spokesperson for South Beach Sessions said: “The whole South Beach Sessions programme was decimated during Covid and the return to live music for a lot of folk will be a long and slow journey, however, we are delighted to have Hue and Cry back at Troon Concert Hall following their sell-out date in December 2019.

“It's been a slog for everyone in the live music industry over the past couple of years but we hope we can start repairing the damage with the remaining events in 2022 starting with Hue and Cry and JJ Gilmour.”
