Scots politician 'alarmed' after Catfish uses his picture for fake Tinder profile

A Scots politician was left ‘alarmed’ after discovering a fake Tinder dating profile had been set up using his picture.

Liberal Democrat Alex Cole-Hamilton shared a screenshot of the bogus account which allegedly belongs to a man named Muller who lives in Edinburgh.

The politician tweeted a screenshot of the fake Tinder profile (Twitter)

The profile claims that he is 50-years-old and had a keen interest in tea, golf, art, language exchange and politics, Edinburgh Live reports.

Cole-Hamilton, who is actually 43, strongly denied that the profile belonged to him and warned Tinder users to be aware.

He wrote: “Well this is alarming. A mate alerted me to the fact there’s a guy on Tinder in Edinburgh who looks exactly like me.

“Exactly like me. Tinder users: I’m not on Tinder. My name isn’t Muller. And I’m not bloody 50.”

The tweet has since received hundreds of likes with several users poking fun at the politician.

Fraser Graham wrote: “Surely this guy is an Alex Cole Shamilton.”

Jon Proctor added: “Dose one proteteth too much one wonders Alex.”

Bryn Powell said: “I’ve always thought you looked a bit like a Muller tbh Alex.”

And William Campbell tweeted: “Don’t worry - you’ll pass for 50!”
