Scots police officer randomly attacked as person arrested and probe launched

A probe has been launched after a police officer was randomly attacked in Argyll and Bute.

Officers were called to the scene of the incident, which took place at the Riverside Filling Station on Oban Road in Lochgilphead around 8pm on Wednesday May 12.

A red Suzuki Swift car was present at the scene.

The suspect was later arrested following the unprovoked attack on the officer.

It is not known if they suffered any injuries during the incident.

Now police are appealing for information from anyone who may have dash-cam footage that could assist them in their inquiry.

Roads Policing Inspector Archie McGuire said: "Our officers are here to protect communities and keep our residents safe and officers should not be subjected to violence during the course of their duties, as happened during this incident "

Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3116 of 12th May 2021.
