Scots pet budgie flies 200 miles to Yorkshire after escaping from home

A pet budgie flew 200 miles from Edinburgh to Yorkshire after escaping it's owner's home.

Beloved bird Jack, from Prestonpans, went missing on April 16 and her owners thought they would never see her again.

Jack's owner's daughter posted a desperate appeal on Facebook page 'Lost Birds Found UK' for the bird's safe return.

But the social media user using the name 'Mickey Moo' was stunned after being contacted five weeks later on May 22 by an Englishman who had found the pet south of the border.

Jack appeared to have sparred with some wild birds during her journey before being found by a good samaritan.

An update on the Edinburgh based page by 'Mickey Moo' who originally made an appeal for Jack on behalf of her mum, said: "Thanks everyone for sharing.

"After 5 weeks and thinking we'd never get her back. Jack is on her way home.

"She has been on a massive adventure and made it all the way to Yorkshire.

"She has a few wee scratches and seems to have gotten herself into a bit of a war with a few wild birds, but apart from that she was happy to be reunited.

"Her other half Viktor is at home waiting for her to get back from her adventures."
