Scots pensioner who died after tragic house fire named by police as blaze probe continues

A Scots OAP has tragically died in hospital after a fire broke out at her West Dunbartonshire home.

Emergency services were called to the home of Agnes Todd on Gray Street, Alexandria, at around 7.45pm on Tuesday, November 23.

The 85-year-old was pulled from the property and rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment to her life-threatening injuries.

But police have now confirmed that the pensioner lost her fight for life earlier today.

A probe into the cause of the blaze remains ongoing with fire chiefs working alongside Police Scotland.

The force said: “We received a report of a fire within a property on Gray Street in Alexandria around 7.45pm on Tuesday, 23 November, 2021.

“Agnes Todd (85) was taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley with life-threatening injuries. Sadly she died earlier today, Wednesday, 24 November, 2021.

"Her relatives are aware and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Police are conducting a joint investigation with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service into the cause of the fire.”
