Scots pensioner rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by car

An elderly man has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in East Kilbride.

The 80-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries following the incident on Stuart Street.

A black Renault Clio was traveling north near the Village Inn struck a man while he was crossing the road.

Police were called to the scene around 7.50am this morning, November 24.

The road was closed as crash scene investigators examined the site.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

Sergeant Andrew Shearer said: “From our enquiries, we know that there were several people in the area who were in the area at the time of the incident and I would urge these people to contact us as their information could prove vital.

"I would also ask any motorists with dash cam devices to check their footage as they may have captured images which would assist us in establishing the full circumstances of what has happened.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0428 of Wednesday, 24 November, 2021.”
