Scots pensioner dies in horror two-car crash in Dumfries

An 86-year-old man who died in a horror crash on Monday has been named as Robert Watson, know as Roy, from Dumfries.

The pensioner was driving a white Honda Jazz near Dumfries when he was involved in a fatal collision with a silver Vauxhall Corsa.

The incident, on the B725 Dumfries to Glencaple road, happened around 12pm on Monday.

Emergency services raced to the scene and Roy was rushed to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary after the crash but sadly later died in hospital.

A 21-year-old woman was also seriously injured in the incident as she was taken to the same hospital.

The road remained closed for eight and a half hours as police carried out investigations and it later reopened at 8.30pm.
