Scots parents share their most epic fails after mum celebrates son's birthday on wrong day for years

No parent can ever claim to be perfect.

So when we revealed one mum's hilarious blunder of celebrating her son's birthday on the wrong day for years, we knew she wouldn't be the only one.

But a surprising number of Scots parents have owned up to some hilarious birthday mishaps themselves after reading the story - and some of them are truly unbelievable.

The sheer number of people who have celebrated theirs or a loved one's birthdays on the wrong day might surprise you.

Melissa Pasley said her mum celebrated her birthday a whole month early. She said: "My Mum celebrated my birthday for 12 years on the 3rd June, but when I was receiving my Confirmation I got my birth certificate and my birthday is the 3rd July....difference of one month."

While Kezza Lee found out, after he died that her dad's birthday was not the day they had been celebrating it for years.

She commented: "My dad always celebrated his birthday on the 15th and when he died it's on his headstone but when I looked into his family tree it was then we found out he was born on the 13th why we have no clue."

Isabella Hodge could remember her birthday, but just not her age, following the birth of her son. She said: "I lost a year of my life when I gave birth to my first son. I was absolutely convinced I was 35, my mum was absolutely sure I was 34.

"We had a furious argument about it in the maternity hospital, it was only when my husband came in and asked my birth date (which we all agreed on btw) that it was revealed that yes, I was 34. So my mum was right."

For Paul Moore his parenting fail is more basic than forgetting birthdays, he said: "Calling your child by the cat's name? Done that."

Moyra Helena said her birthday was always disputed by her mum and her gran, until eventually one of them was vindicated.

She said: "My granny argued with my mammy that my birthday was 11th of the month not the 12th. After 8 years of celebrating it on the 12th I needed my birth certificate for something…. Yes, granny was right."

Charlotte Stelmaszuk said she only realised her real birthday when she got a copy of her birth certificate. She added: "I celebrated my birthday for 20 years on the 31st January, until I got my birth lines, I was actually born on the 30th January."

Margaret Girvan could remember all her family birthdays - but was a bit more rusty when it came to her wedding anniversary. She said: 'I celebrated my wedding anniversary on 3rd Dec for 17 years only when I had to get copy of marriage certificate it was 2nd."
