Scots paedo on the run as police warn public not to approach him

A sex offender who was jailed for assaulting teenage girls is being hunted by police .

Paul Hunter Redpath, originally from Stranraer , is wanted by Cumbria Police for allegedly breaching a sexual harm prevention order and failing to maintain contact with officers.

The force has advised the public not to approach the 48-year-old, who has gone AWOL on previous occasions, and call 999 if they spot him.

Redpath was jailed for three years in Belfast in 2006 after being convicted of sexually assaulting two teenage sisters in Downpatrick, County Down.

He also admitted indecent assault and unlawful carnal knowledge of a 13-year-old girl, but the former chef was freed early because he had already spent a year behind bars on remand.

He later breached the terms of his probation by failing to return to accommodation.

A statement from Cumbria Police said: “Paul Hunter Redpath is also wanted for breach of notification requirements and prison recall.

“He is actively being sought by officers and was last seen in the Kendal area.

“Redpath has links to Preston, Scotland, West Cumbria and South Cumbria.”

He is described as 6ft 4in with a “distinctive grey bread”, hair in a ponytail and a Scottish accent.

The force warned: “If sighted the public are advised not to approach him and to contact the police immediately on 999.”

In 2011, police in Aberdeen appealed for sightings of Redpath, who had last been seen in the city.

Redpath had also gone missing while on probation in Northern Ireland two years earlier.

He was detained in County Wicklow in the Republic of Ireland on that occasion.
