Scots otter found trapped under car bonnet in bizarre SSPCA rescue mission

A Scots otter was found trapped under a car bonnet in bizarre SSPCA rescue mission.

The animal had got himself been 'spooked' by residents and snuck inside the car to hide.

It is believed he had been trying to reach a pond in Edinburgh before getting stuck.

Animal rescue officers Darren and Sarah attended the scene after the alarm was raised by concerned locals.

When they opened the car the terrified otter managed to make his escape and darted off believed to be uninjured.

The SSPCA said: "When Sarah and Darren opened the bonnet, it turned out the otter didn’t need their help as he shot out of there and ran away as fast as he could!

"Because of his speed, Sarah and Darren were unable to give him a thorough check over, but it is unlikely he was injured as there is no way he could have made his getaway if he was.

"We haven’t had any more calls from anyone in the area, so hopefully he has returned to the wild unscathed from his ordeal.

"If anyone spots a trapped or injured animal, please contact our helpline on 03000 999 999."
