Scots OAP robbed by heartless thieves who stole more than £10k in cash

Police are appealing for witnesses after the home of a 75-year-old man was robbed by heartless thieves in Dumfries.

The culprits forced entry to his property on Portland Drive between mid-October and Tuesday, November 3.

A five-figure sum of cash was taken during the raid alongside a quantity of jewellery belonging to the pensioner.

Investigators are now appealing for witnesses who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the housebreaking.

Detective Sergeant Colin McKinstry, of Dumfries CID, said: “This has been a horrendous crime in which a 75-year-old man has suffered significant financial and sentimental loss.

“Enquiries are underway to establish exactly when the crime occurred and I am seeking help from local residents who may have seen any suspicious activity at the address over the course of the last three weeks.

“In particular, anyone who has seen any suspicious individuals or vehicles in the vicinity of the address in recent weeks is urged to contact police.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2192 of 3 November or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
