Scots NHS worker 'completely gutted' after new Jeep stolen from home and torched

A Scots couple have been left 'completely gutted' after their brand new car was stolen and torched.

Lisa Harrison, 23, and Daniel Thomson, 23, were woken by cops yesterday morning to be told that their brand new Jeep Compas had been found burnt out in a field two miles from their Dundee home.

The vehicle had been snatched from their home on Kinclaven Drive overnight.

Dramatic pictures show the charred remains of the four by four which has been reduced to a burnt shell.

NHS worker Lisa told the Daily Record that the motor was new and they had been left devastated.

She said: "(We're) completely gutted, he’s only had the car for a few weeks and it's completely unexpected (as) we live in such a quiet street and would never expect anything like that to happen.

"The police are investigating looking for anyone with CCTV or any dashcam footage to try get to the bottom of this.

"We awoke this morning to a knock at the door from the police to say they had found the car abandoned in a nearby farm road set alight and there wasn’t much left of it.

"As far as we were aware the car was there at 11pm last night so it has been taken during the night and possibly joy riden. We aren’t 100% sure at the moment of the full extent of what they got up to in the car."

Lisa took to social media to launch her appeal for information further.

She wrote on Facebook: "My boyfriend Daniel Thomson’s car has been stolen through the early hours last night roughly between around midnight last night-6am this morning.

"The car was found burnt to a crisp on the outskirts of Craigowl View area.

"If anyone has any information has seen this car around those times in the early hours or has any cameras/dashcam footage or anything

"We’re thinking most likely around the St Mary’s area aiming for probably brackens Road/Laird Street or surrounding areas but who knows where this person could have taken it anyone has any information on anything related to the car or who the culprits may be please get in touch!"

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
