Scots musician Tom Walker tells of 'top secret rehearsals' with 'talented' Kate Middleton

Scots musician Tom Walker has spilled the beans from behind the scenes of his musical duet with Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.

The Leave A Light On singer songwriter performed with Kate for Royal Carols: Together At Christmas service last month.

Tom sang while the Royal played the piano in tribute to 'inspirational' people who helped to serve during the pandemic to assist their communities.

Tom opened up about the rehearsals he had with the Duchess ahead of their duet of his specially written Christmas track 'For Those Who Can't Be Here'.

During the performance, which was shown on December 24, Kate played the piano much to everyone's delight and surprise.

Tom told Good Morning Britain about the couple's 'top secret rehearsals' ahead of their big night.

He revealed: "She's fantastic, a really talented musician.

"We had a top-secret rehearsal to make sure we were both comfortable with playing with each other, it was at Metropolis Studios."

Tom had initially met Kate during a charity event last year and they discussed their mutual love of music, with Kate offering to play piano for the carol service.

He added: "We did a charity event together and got chatting and I was approached after that to ask if I could play the carol service," he said.

Tom also told The Sun: "It was so well received, I probably owe her royalties now. She sent me a letter thanking me for the opportunity but it should be me thanking her.

"The song has jumped 57 places in the charts. It was a wonderful experience and she was so warm. She made the effort to thank all the musicians but it was us who felt so grateful to be part of something so special."

Kate's mum Carole, dad Michael, sister Pippa and brother James attended the performance which was praised highly on social media.
