Scots mum transforms average family home into pink palace with leopard print stairs after 'lifetime' cleaning up after kids

A Scots mum has given her period property an incredible transformation after deciding to pursue her interior design dreams following a 'lifetime' cleaning up after messy kids.

Revi Winton, 38, shares amazing before and after pictures of her home showing off the striking differences room by room, on her popular Instagram account, the_girl_with_the_pink_door.

The budding social media influencer says when she started using the platform to show off her interior design ideas her husband Barry, 38, and kids Nia, 14 and Sonny, 10, thought she was "a bit silly".

But the mum-of-two knew she had a keen eye for patterns and fabrics and loved upcycling furniture, so after spending what seemed like a lifetime cleaning up after her messy kids, she decided to finally create the home of her dreams.

Revi, 39, of Irvine, said: "I had loads of ideas for the house and wanted to share them with other people that are interested in interiors. Instagram is great for having a good noisy at people's style.

"The kids and Barry thought it was silly at first and a bit show off like but all my posts are about ideas and what you can do with space, not showing off.

"I'm one of those sad people that like to clean. I couldn't sit and relax if there was a mess lying about. I tidy as I go and try to encourage the kids to do the same but they are unable to pick up wet towels or their washing from the toilet floor, it's the bane of my life.

"I also thought it would be a good platform for me to show my upcycling work and upholstery projects. I love taking something old and unloved and giving it purpose and a new lease of life.

Revi says she gets lots of compliments on the unusual choice of leopard print carpet on her staircase and says the idea came to her accidentally.

She said: "I decided to get a leopard print carpet for my stairs because I came home one day flung my scarf down and it landed on the stairs and I thought it would look brilliant so went for it.

"Fashion and clothes texture prints and colours are my loves and I like to mix them up and incorporate then into the house."

Revi, who currently works in a printers, hopes to one day turn her creative eye into a business and has already managed to sell some of her upcycled projects.

She added: "I suppose the end goal would be to get some sort of wee business on the go with that already sold a few sets of cinema seats & working on another just now."
