Scots mum's horror after 'hooded creep' uses drone to film daughter playing

A Scots mum has issued a warning to parents after a 'hooded' creep terrorised her daughter with a drone.

Cheryl McLuskey, 36, has contacted police after her little girl came running into their house on Castlemilk Road in Kings Park, Glasgow, in tears on Sunday evening around 5pm.

The eight-year-old was playing in the front garden with her two cousins when the small unmanned aircraft, which has a camera attached, arrived and started flying nearby.

The children went through to the back garden to get away from it - but it followed them, before doing the same a third time when they tried to get away from it again.

Pupil support teacher Cheryl told the Record: "I haven't been able to sleep all night thinking about it and it has made me feel very uncomfortable.

"My daughter and her two cousins were playing and there was a drone that came into my garden not far from them.

"The kids then went round the back to get away from it.

"But the drone followed them and hovered over them in the trampoline.

"She showed us how high it was and it was definitely very low.

"They then went back to the front garden and when the drone followed them a third time they came running crying into the house to tell us."

By the time Cheryl got outside the drone had flown away.

Now she's issuing a warning to other Glasgow mum's after being told this wasn't the first incident of it's kind.

Cheryl said: "Since this has happened I have realised how many people this has been bothering.

"I have spoken to my neighbours who also seen the drone and saw a man that was controlling it with a hoody on in Kingsbridge Avenue.

"I just wanted to put a warning out there for others.

"It could be totally innocent but you can never be too careful when children are involved.

"There shouldn't be drones flying into people's gardens or near houses. I hope the police manage to investigate and find out who it belongs to and put a stop to this.

"My child doesn't feel very safe in her own garden and to be honest until this is stopped I do not feel comfortable letting my children out to play on their own either.

"It is very unsettling."

Cheryl is urging anyone else who has witnessed this happening to them, to report it to police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed the incident had been reported to them.

Officers will be making enquiries.
