Scots mum refuses to send three kids to school amid coronavirus fears

A worried mum told yesterday why she is keeping all three kids off school amid fears about coronavirus.

Karen Gray, 45, from Edinburgh, is refusing to send her children over health fears about her youngest son Murray, seven.

The Record told last year how Karen was forced to smuggle in cannabis-based medicines from Holland to help save Murray’s life.

He was diagnosed with Doose syndrome – a rare but severe form of epilepsy – in December 2017 and his seizures increased until he was having 12 a day.

When the hospital said there was nothing they could do, Karen went to Holland for the medicine.

Murray hasn’t had a SINGLE seizure in 10 months.

But she is terrified if Murray catches the virus, the resultant fever may make his seizures return.

She said: “It is not worth the risk.”

Her daughter Lauren, 16, is in fifth year at Royal High School, Edinburgh, along with her elder son Dean, 12.

Murray attends Clermiston Primary School.

Karen said: “I have kept all the children off. I am not worried about me catching it but I worry about spreading it to Murray.”

It comes as the total number of people tested positive for coronavirus sits at 171.
